Examiner.com – Usually when you hear terms like fundamentalist or magical thinking, it is spewing forth from the mouth of a notable commentator and directed at a Conservative or Christian leader. It seems however that the Nietzsche quote “Battle not with monsters lest ye become a monster” has come to fruition and the very boogeymen the left has accused the right of being, they themselves have become.
Energy is one of the most entertaining and frightening cases to witness. While the magical thinking that pixie dust alternative energy will replace oil is bleeding into other political circles, it is still the primary home of far left, socialist activists. No energy business in the world would ignore the mega fortune of wind and solar energy… if it worked. The only businesses lining up for “green energy” projects, are those who will get massive handouts which used to be demonized by Democrats as corporate welfare before they used corporate welfare to get elected. There is no market for pixie dust energy whatsoever. If there were, there would be no need for us to subsidize it. As the technology today stands, it would take about fifty of those windmills you see on T.V. to power your house. Add another ten when replace your gasoline engined vehicle with an electric one. On the web, there is a market for magical thinking suckers. You can be a “rep” for about $300 bucks and then you hustle alternative energy to your customers. That’s a real “green energy” market.
The Afghanistan theater is not going well at all under President Obama. It wasn’t all that great since late 2006, but 2009 has been the bloodiest year ever and all you see from The Huffington Post and the other usual suspects “Will Afghanistan be Obama’s Vietnam?” It will if you run into the ground the way you did for the last seven years. It will if President Obama continues to make the mistakes if Vietnam, such as micromanaging the war from D.C. as he has started doing.
Now, the calls for withdrawing from Afghanistan begin. A few years ago, it was “Afghanistan was necessary and I support that mission, just not the Iraq mission. I also support the troops, I just don’t support the mission.” Now that liberals are more comfortable, they have begun telling the truth about fighting the Taliban and other Islamist extremists, they don’t want to do it. I am not sure who really has the luxury of wanting to, most of those doing the fighting will tell you it’s a case of having too. The anti-war crowd will not be denied their high horse, however. I am still waiting to meet one of those “pro-war” veterans who enjoyed war and can’t wait to get back to it’s horrors. The idea that 99% of Americans are anti-war has not crossed the minds of the “faithful.” They choose to parade around and trumpet their no-solutions. The troops, must fight this war now, or all of our children will. They will have enough problems passed down to them, we should thin out the ranks of their villains as best we can.
Economics is a stunning mystery in these times. Some financial illiterates wrote a few massive spending bills and then withhold the spending until it’s close to the 2010 elections. Every month, job losses pile up to the millions and our leaders stand before us and declare “It’s working! it’s really working.” We’re not.
The Democrats dove into TARP, seizing an opportunity to bring Wall Street into their court. They succeeded and bailed out one undeserving financial institution after another. Where was the all American spirit of competition that the young turks would rise to the occasion and change the way of doing business? It was lost in the new corporate welfare and it was needed to be rushed through so our unemployment rate didn’t hit 8%…
Health care reform has proven to be a true quagmire and the “Tea Party” protesters who were dismissed earlier this year came back in with renewed strength. The Democrats weren’t laughing at teabagging jokes as much this time and Nancy Pelosi called the only people alive who actually fought the Nazis, Nazis. With each passing week, we find out a new provision or program slipped into this “reform” that send chills down our spines. Rationing, End of Life Provisions, fines, the list goes on and the confidence slips away.
The peak of American liberal/progressive power passed a few months ago. A time when our young President had to remind us “I won” and “you can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh.” All the while he demanded his detractors get out of his way so he could clean up their mess. Regardless if President Obama can rescue Obamacare or not, he has sent the Democrat Party on a downward trajectory that they will never recover from in our lifetime. The mainstreaming of 9/11 Trutherism, the abuse of hiring so many special advisers (Czars) and the inability to articulate how he wants to serve America has cost him, and us, dearly.
