David Letterman Is A Rat

There is a website dedicated to firing David Letterman. It lists Dave’s advertisers, something they may not be pleased about.

I have never been much of a Letterman fan, I watched Johnny Carson when I was little, Arsenio Hall in my early teens, Conan in my twenties, and now I watch Craig Ferguson when I can.

Letterman most likely will not apologize as this scuffle has stolen Conan’s ratings away. On top of the ratings turning in Letterman’s favor, is the fact that the classic ‘liberal media’ is out in stereotypical fashion, defending Letterman, and smearing Palin. For example, Jeff Thomas writes:

  • The Star Report: Sarah Palin continues attacks on Letterman.
  • .

That’s the title. When you start out  with a big lie, it does not bode well.

  • She’s mad that the curmudgeonly comedian is using her daughter in his act. Much like, one could argue, Palin is using her daughter to stir up publicity. But never mind that right now.
  • .

Palin is using her daughter? By defending her honor at 14? ‘One could argue’ that if they were wanting to spin the heat away from Letterman. “Yeah, make that fourteen year-old suffer and you shut up mom! You’re just a slutty flight attendant anyway.”

Mary Mitchell is even worse:

  • And the Palin family seized the opportunity to exploit Letterman’s “despicable” joke by claiming the funnyman was talking about Willow.
  • .

See to a liberal, this is an opportunity. Palin is making them uncomfortable, so the projection begins as they try to both salvage Letterman, and attack Palin. She continues:

  • By dragging Willow into the dust-up, the Palins are again able to divert attention away from the real issues involving their oldest daughter.
  • Bristol is an 18-year-old unmarried mother who is going through baby-daddy drama. As such, her life mocks the family values conservatives such as her mother preach.
  • Ironically, Letterman’s poor taste most likely will help Palin further her political agenda.
  • .

Palin dragged Willow into the dust-up? Nice try. Who said she got knocked up?

Going through baby-daddy drama? You mean Bristol is not one of those sainted ‘single mothers’ we keep hearing about? How does she get into that club? It used to be a liberal badge of honor, but now it’s just ‘baby-daddy drama.’ As for making a mockery out of family values, this will never happen to people who don’t try to live up to them in the first place.

The swipe about furthering Palin’s political agenda, this is left unexplained because it’s nonsense. If you mean Palin looks better for defending her daughter from the liberal lecher humor of Letterman, then Mary Mitchell is indeed correct.  At least she admits Letterman came off like an aging bully.

Now on the flip side, Republican Brian Kolb wants Letterman fired. I don’t think firing the comedians for being thinly veiled political hacks is a good president. Obama will quickly name a Joke Czar, and then actual good humor will cease. Letterman should simply admit he screwed up, that he meant Willow, and that he didn’t mean to hurt anybody but the Palin family. That would be fine with most, and the audience of Keith Olbermann could still receive their late night affirmations.

And please stop this big lie about how he meant the other daughter; It’s the strategy of an eight-year-old saying “I didn’t mean to…” when their hand is scraping the bottom of the jar.
